Vina del Mar, part of greater Valparaiso metropolitan area, is considered by many to be Chile's one of the most beautiful city. A seaside resort endowed with fine beaches and modern buildings, the city charms and surprises visitors. Historic Valparaso, Chile's principal seaport, is only 10 minutes away and possesses a unique urban character.
Vina del Mar is also known for its various entertainment places, such as the oldest and most attended Gambling Casino in the country, the classical Sporting Club, with its well known racetrack. It also hosts events such as the most important International Musical Festival in Latin America. Via del Mars annual International Song Festival, in February, has attracted along its 42 years old well-known Latin performers and international ones like The Police, Sheena Easton, Duran Duran, Luis Miguel, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Inxs, Faith No More, Shirley Bassey, A-teens, Enrique and Julio Iglesias, Backstreet Boys, just to name a few. The festival takes around 5 days, and every year famous artist are invited as judges and Martika was one of them in 1991.
